Light green cloth. Square Tight Binding. Warmly inscribed by Rear Admiral Dufek, presumably to the son of one of fellow Operation Deep Freeze adventurers D-Diroche. Dufek waxes about the possibility of the son going to the Antarctic like his father. Dufek was a WWII hero who commanded the aviation part of the North Africa invasion in Algeria. After the war he served with Admiral Byrd in HIS Antarctic explorations. After the death of Byrd, Dufek commanded four South Pole expeditions. This is a wonderful piece of South Pole expedition history. Mild rubbing and edge wear. Jacket with rubbing and mild edge wear. Presents handsomely in archival mylar.
