Symmetry: The Meaning of Thermodynamics

University of Pennsylvania: Unpublished, No Date. First Edition. Paperback. 4to - over 9. Good. Item #12579

This appears to be a book written by Callen but never published.

Callen was one of the heavyweights in scientific thermodynamics during the 20th century and he was heavily involved in the Manhattan Project during WW II, the U.S. effort to produce the 1st atomic bomb.

This work is undated, though in reviewing his inspiration for the work, Callen references time in Jerusalem at the Hebrew University in 1969, thus dating the work likely to the early 1970s.

Plastic-comb binding with plain tan wraps. Wraps moderately soiled with mild edge wear. Text block edges the same.

The book features sporadically printed simple illustrations by Callen. Text is typewritten with the mathematical calculations printed from Callen's hand.

An incredible piece from an important 20th-century American physicist with direct ties to the Manhattan Project.
