Beautiful early Edition of this always in demand cookbook.
Toklas caused a stir when the book was first published in England with the famous recipe on page 259 for "Haschich Fudge", expurgated, with a blank space left in its place, in this early American Edition.
A medley thoughts and memories of Toklas's life with author Gertrude Stein. Toklas was the life partner of American writer Gertrude Stein. They were a central part of the Parisian avant-garde ex-pats which included the likes of Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce and F. Scott Fitzgerald and their home served as THE salon which attracted the likes of Picasso, Matisse, Anderson, Wilder and the aforementioned expats.
Half green and orange cloth. Square tight binding. Clean interior. $4.50 price intact on the inner flap. Dust jacket with mild edge wear, including a short closed tear on the top edge of the front panel, and a lightly sunned spine. Presents handsomely in archival mylar.
A superior edition.
