Sea Power in its Relations to the War of 1812

Boston: Little Brown & Co., 1905. 1st Edition. 8vo. Very Good / No Jackets. Item #13215

A beautiful 1st American Edition of Mahan's classic study of naval warfare during the War of 1812.

Mahan (1840 – 1914) was a United States naval officer and historian, whom John Keegan called "the most important American strategist of the nineteenth century."

Blue cloth with gilt titling to spines and intricately illustrated ships of war on the upper boards in gilt. Square tight bindings. Clean interiors. Mild edge wear. Volume I with a few tiny spots of discoloration and a small dime-sized spot, at the lower front corner where a drop of some liquid apparently landed at some point in the book's history.

A handsome 1st Edition set in unusually lovely condition.
