Remember Belgium - Buy Bonds Fourth Liberty Loan

New York: United States Printing and Lithograph Co., 1918. Young, Ellsworth. 1st Edition. Very Good. Item #13429

A beautiful original WW I propaganda poster by iconic early 20th-century illustrator Ellsworth Young, who go on to create artwork for the Works progress Administration under Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal.

The poster depicts a German soldier capturing a Belgian girl as the city behind them burns. The girl would likely become on of the 120,000 Belgian citizens the Germans used as forced labor for the duration of WW I. The 'Rape of Belgium' caused international outrage and galvanized the Allies in their war effort against Germany.

This piece also features the remnants of three original 4th Liberty Loan stickers to the top edge.

This poster measures 20" X 30" and is in Very Good condition. A few minor nicks to the edges as well as a longer closed separation along the top edge, extending vertically about 4.5" from the top edge affecting the letter 'M' in 'Remember'

Perfect for framing and display!
