A beautiful 1938 art-deco illustrated poster featuring major women athletes of the Great Depression era.

Depicted in caricature style are Championship golfers and founders of the LPGA, Helen Hicks and Patty Berg. Also included are Tennis Major Championship winners Alice Marble, Helen Wills and Helen Jacobs, along with U.S. Champion swimmer Katherine Rawls Thompson.


"Over the years, Selz's work had appeared in The New York Times, The New York Herald Tribune, The New York Post, The Journal‐American, The Brooklyn Eagle, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and The New Yorker.

A longtime member of the New York Society of Illustrators, she was also the author and illustrator of six children's books, including “Wonderful Nice” and “Cat Sank.”

In later years, Mrs. Engelhardt turned to sculpture, which she exhibited in a number of New York and Long Island galleries." - NY Times.
