1881 Manuscript Letter Talbot County, MD Gentleman farmer Samuel A. Harrison Executing the Sale of Baltimore City Bonds

Baltimore, Md: 1881. Very Good. Item #15127

An original 1881 holographic letter from iconic Baltimore, Maryland banker J. Harmanus Fisher to talbot County Gentleman Farmer, Historian and Doctor Samuel Harrison documenting the sale of Baltimore City stocks, listing dollar values, signed by Fisher at the end.

Along with the letter is the contract for the sale, both documents written in original iron gall ink.

The letter is two leaves, and written on all four pages.

Fisher came from Baltimore City royalty, with members serving prominently in both city and state governments. Fisher got his start in the family investment firm, William A. Fisher & Sons, before opening his own firm in 1873, which ran before retiring in 1906.

Harrison was a titan of late 19th-century Talbot County and remains to this day the most important historian in Talbot County history, who built a solid foundation for historians who have since followed.

These documents are in Very Good to Fine condition. The contract was originally folded upon itself to make a mailing envelope, common during the day, and retains its original fold lines.

These items are PERFECT for framing and display and would make a wonderful addition to any fine Maryland or Finance collection.
