An original 1493 leaf from the Nuremberg Chronicle, one of the most important books in history and the 2nd most of the 15th century.
This leaf is from the German translation, printed alongside the original Latin work and completed in December, 1493, two months after the Latin was published. This leaf comprises pages XCIII and XCIV and features 8 woodcut engravings, seven portraits and one larger engraving depicting Sibilla Tiburtina prophesizing the birth of Christ.
The leaf measures 17 1/4" X 12 1/2" and is in Very Good condition, with mild edge wear and a penny-sized ink imperfection to the lower verso of XCIII. Professional conservation repair to small closed tear along bottom edge verso, with thee small pieces of paper tape to top edge verso.
This leaves comes with two layers of matting and is ready for framing and display.
Overall and excellent example of one of the most important works in human history.
