A beautiful 1st Limited Edition from this influential late 20th-century African American poet. Signed by Coleman at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in May, 1998.
This is one of just 100 copies signed and numbered by Coleman, this being number 24 of 100.
Coleman, born in Watts just after WW II, was known as 'the L.A. Blueswoman' and the 'unofficial Poet Laureate of Los Angeles'. She drew the ire of a variety of communities in 2002 when she panned the work of Maya Angelou, calling the book 'A Song Flung Up to Heaven' "small and inauthentic, without ideas wisdom or vision".
This edition was published along with three limited hardcover editions, 120 of which were signed by the author.

Square tight binding. Clean interior. Little, if any, wear. A superb edition, protected with a mylar sleeve.
