An original 1863 illustrated Civil War newspaper with detailed coverage and large poster-like engravings of the battle of Gettysburg, the pivotal battle in the War Between the States.
This August 8, 1863 issue of the Harper's Weekly illustrated newspaper features a double-page, centerfold woodcut engraving of the action as it was raging during Longstreet's attack on the Union left. The engraving is tipped in to the newspaper, meaning there are no binder string holes often seen in Harper's when the centerfolds are bound in, making this issue that much more attractive. In addition, there is an inside-page headline report of the battle as it relates to Longstreet's charge.
The engraving measures 22" X 16" and is perfect for framing and display!
