This important 1884 history was originally published to "accompany and explain" the brilliant portfolio of 26 watercolor sketches by one of the premier maritime painters of the 19th century, Frederic S. Cozzens. The artist's watercolors are outlined as pen and ink illustrations in this volume on 25 black and white plates.
Contemporary half black morocco. Marbled boards and endpapers, top edge gilt. Gilt titling and ruling to spine with five raised bands. Mild to moderate rubbing and edge wear.
Overall a handsome and desirable copy of an extremely scarce 19th-century yachting history.
