Antietam And The Maryland And Virginia Campaigns of 1862

New York: The Neale Publishing Co., 1912. 1st Edition. Duodecimo. Very Good. Item #15567

A very nice 1st Edition history, quite scarce, of the Maryland campaign from one of its participants, Heysinger having served with the 7th Rhode Island Cavalry, one of the units which escaped Harper's Ferry when captured by Stonewall Jackson.

Heysinger wrote of his unit's escaped up the Maryland Heights in the dark on the opposite side of the Potomac, “that I had to grasp my horse’s mane” to keep from sliding off his saddle.

Much of Heysinger's account uses the official U.S. Government records as well as other primary sources.

Burgundy cloth. Square tight binding. Clean interior, save for the small stamp of an 'F' to the lower front pastedown. Gilt titling to spine. Mild edge wear. Mild edge wear to binding with the corners lightly bumped.

A solid volume of a scarce and desirable Civil War history.
