Record of the Service of the Forty-Fourth Massachusetts Volunteer Militia in North Carolina August 1862-1863

Boston: Privately Printed, 1887. 1st Edition. Quarto. Good+. Item #15672

A very nice 1887 1st Edition 1st hand account of this storied Civil War unit, with exceptional Massachusetts Civil War provenance, this copy belonging to 2nd Lieutenant James Briggs, who served in the unit and who's signature is on the front end paper.

Black cloth. Square tight binding. Clean interior. Laid in is a mimeograph of lines of poetry read by Lt. C.C. Soule of Company B at the regiment's 1880 reunion dinner, with edits in pencil.

Black cloth has some insect damage along the outer front joint and along the top edge, with a touch of bubbling to cloth.

Overall a handsome copy with excellent Civil War provenance.

Price: $225.00
