A scarce Confederate memoir from this Baltimore, Maryland native and member of the 2nd Maryland, CSA who was struck by four bullets on Culp's Hill at the Battle of Gettysburg.

McKim was born in Baltimore and grew up at Belvedere, the ancestral home of Revolutionary War hero John Eager Howard. He earned degrees from the University of Virginia and the Virginia Theological Seminary and began his ministry as a Confederate chaplain during the Civil War. After the war, he was ordained as an Episcopal priest and served churches such as Holy Trinity in Harlem (1875-76) and the Church of the Epiphany in Washington, D. C.

Red cloth with title stamped in blind to the front board and in gilt to spine. Square tight binding. Clean interior. Mild rubbing and edge wear with moderate soiling to binding. Lower fore edge of text block with a small semi-circular dampstain affecting the last half of pages. Spine lightly sunned.

Overall a handsome copy of a scarce Maryland Confederate memoir. Presents handsomely in archival mylar.
