A lovely 1888 1st Edition of a scarce history on the early African American military experience.

Decorated red cloth, stamped in black and gilt. Generally a square tight binding, though front hinge starting. Clean interior, save for two inscriptions on front pastedown and endpaper.

528pp. Mild rubbing and edge wear to binding. Spine lightly sunned. tanned pages. Unobtrusive half-inch wide linear indentation to upper portion of front board where it appears something may have been pressed up against the book for a length of time.

A fine centerpiece to any quality Black Americana collection. Scarce.
