The Life of Nathanael Greene, Major-general in the Army of the Revolution

New York: Derby & Jackson, 1858. 8vo. Very Good. Item #16269

A very nice 1858 early printing of a very scarce Revolutionary War title.

Greene was one of the Revolution's most effective field commanders. Assuming command of the Continental forces in the Southern Théâtre after the failure Horatio Gates at Camden. Greene effectively forced Cornwallis' retreat into Virginia at Yorktown, bringing the practical end of The Revolutionary War with Cornwallis' surrender in October, 1781.

Original brown cloth stamped in blind. 393pp. Square tight binding. Clean interior, save for bookseller ticket to rear pastedown.

Brown cloth with mild to moderate rubbing and edge wear. Presents handsomely in an archival mylar sleeve.

Overall a lovely example of the quite scarce and important 19th-century history.

Price: $150.00
