A gorgeous 1910 1st Edition of a fascinating history of this crucial region which was pivotal in deciding the War for Empire between France and England in the 18th century.

The Mohawk trail became a principal route of the French and their Native American allies during the French and Indian War from 1754 to 1763. During the American Revolution, Benedict Arnold, still an American patriot at the time, traveled the route recruiting additional troops while on the way to Fort Ticonderoga. This region of New York remains one of the most beautiful places in North America.

Blue cloth with titling stamped in gilt. Black and white printed paper onlay to front board, depicting the Hudson River from the bastion at Fort Ticonderoga. Publisher's ads at rear. Three large folding maps at rear (two in color and one in black and white of the attack of Ticonderoga).
