This vibrant and colorful map features illustrations of important historical sites and people dating back through 400 years of New York history. The map features a centerpiece of two larger maps, one of the state and the other a vignette of Manhattan and Long Island. Surrounding the centerpiece are 24 smaller vignettes depicting the history of New York, with illustrations of the capture of British spy John Andre, the tomb of Ulysses S. Grant, Nathan Hale, the 1789 Inauguration of George Washington as the 1st President of the U.S., the purchase of Manhattan from local Indians, and many more.
The interior features illustrations and text of the Iroquois Indians, The Battle of Plattsburgh during the War of 1812, the Massacre at Fort William Henry during the French and Indian War, Herkimer's Monument, Perry's victory at the Battle of Lake Erie and many more.
This historic piece is in very Good condition with mild edge wear, including a few small tears.
