A beautiful 1861 Civil War newspaper with front -page stacked headlines and long and detailed reports announcing that the Confederate Army has fired upon Fort Sumter, in Charleston Harbor, thus beginning the Civil War.

This April 18, 1861 issue of the Boston Weekly Journal is complete in four pages and is chock full of Civil War news, including front and inside-page reports from the seat of action, then in South Carolina.

This issue not only features a front-page report announcing the beginning of the war, but an inside-page report announcing the surrender of Sumter by Major Anderson.

In excellent condition, this historic piece is perfect for framing and display and would make a fine addition to any modern-day Civil War collection.
