1865 Civil War Newspaper ABRAHAM LINCOLN INAUGURATION to 2nd term as US PRESIDENT

New York: Harper's Weekly Illustrated Newspaper, 1865. 1st Edition. Very Good Condition. Item #17384

This March 11, 1865 issue of Harper's Weekly Illustrated Newspaper contains an inside-page headline report announcing that Abraham Lincoln has been inaugurated to his 2nd term as US President, near the end of the Civil War.

Lincoln's term would last little more than a month as in April he would be assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.

This issue is complete in 16 pages and is chock-full of Civil War action news as well as many detailed woodcut engravings of scenes of the Civil War, including a large double-page centerfold engraving of scenes around Harper's Ferry, West Virginia as well as a full-page engraving of Grant's army near Petersburg, Va as it continues to tighten the noose around the Confederate Army of General Robert E. Lee, less than a month before his ultimate surrender.

A fantastic piece of Abraham Lincoln and Civil War history.
