This January 5, 1864 issue of the New York Tribune is complete in eight pages with this front-page report also featuring bold stacked headlines as well as a letter from notable abolitionist and orator Charles Sumner.

Douglass' letter is a response to Sumner regarding attendance at the January 4, 1864 celebration.
