Some Silent Places Still

Barre, MA: Barre Publishers, 1969. 1st Edition. 8vo. Fine / Very Good. Item #17615

A beautiful 1969 1st Edition from one of America's most beloved fishing writers, warmly inscribed in the year of publication on the front endpaper.

"Lamb (1899-1986) was a New York City investment banker, avid angler and gifted writer. He was best known for his fishing adventures in the northeastern U.S. and Atlantic Canada. He particularly loved fly fishing for Atlantic salmon. Lamb was a wealthy man who was involved in several fish and game clubs, and donated the proceeds of his books toward community and conservation efforts. Though sometimes hard to find, Lamb’s books are highly sought after and enjoyed by a dedicated group of outdoor book enthusiasts." - outdoor sporting library

This particular piece is a nice association copy, written to his close friend Roberta Thomas (wife of Frederick) of the 17th-century manor near Easton, Maryland, 'Troth's Fortune', with the inscription reading - "To Roberta Thomas with all the best as always and my love - Dana S. Lamb - Sunken Meadow Christmas 1969"

100pp. Cream colored cloth over teal green paper over boards. Square tight binding. Clean interior. Book in impeccable condition. Upper edges of outer pages with the lightest trace of foxing. Slipcase in Very Good condition with mild rubbing and edge wear.

Overall an exquisite 1st Edition copy of this fishing classic, extremely scarce signed by the author.
