AN extremely scarce early biography of Bowditch, the most important figure in early American nautical navigation, from the library of eminent 19th-century Bostonian Samuel A. Dorr, with his signature in pencil at the top of the title page.

Young was a notable American historian, Harvard graduate and unitarian minister. He published several biographies of prominent Bostonians of the day, this being his first.

Tan typographical wraps. 119pp. Square tight binding. Clean interior. Wraps with mild to moderate edge wear, with some chipping to the rear wrap. Top corner verso of front wrap with a small sticker, an inventory number from the private library of a serious Bowditch collector.

Overall a Very Good copy of a scarce Bowditch collectible.
