An original 1876 illustrated newspaper with one of Thomas Nast's more famous Christmas poster-like illustrations.
This woodcut engraving features a young boy hanging a Christmas stocking up on the fireplace mantle in anticipation of Santa's visit, while standing on the head of a fur bear rug, while a pipe-smoking Santa looks on in the form of fireplace decor.
This offering, a December 30, 1876 issue of the harper's Weekly illustrated Newspaper, is a complete 20-page newspaper, which features many other Victorian-era engravings and headline articles and great original 19th-century advertising.
Mild wear, including a shallow crease which runs along the upper fore edge corner.
The engraving measures 11" X 16" and is perfect for framing and display.
