Sixteen of the 18 called-for black and white engraved map plates present. Lacking maps of Portsmouth and Isles of Shoals.
Original calf, with gilt ruling to spine and burgundy title label. xvi, 495. Square tight binding. Clean interior, save for a complete front endpaper of beautiful contemporary handwriting in original iron gall ink, some legible, some not. Leather with moderate rubbing and wear. Rear endpaper torn out. Boards bowed outward. Chip to leather at heel of spine.
Overall, a very nice early New York edition of Blunt's defining work.
