An original 1793 newspaper with an inside-page report announcing that the sleepy village of Easton, on Maryland's rural Eastern Shore celebrates the 61st birthday of President George Washington, still in the waning days of his first administration.

"The Ball-room was filled with Ladies, whose smiles testified the joy with which they embrace every opportunity of expressing their gratitude to, and veneration for, their protector and benefactor. At the upper end of the Ball-room was hung a handsome picture of the President, ornamented with crown of laurel and wreaths of flowers, which the Ladies had previously prepared."

This historic piece is complete in four pages and is in Very Good condition. Contemporary signature at the top in original iron gall ink. Ancient fold lines.
