An original 1862 Confederate Civil War newspaper with two front-page reports regarding the Battle of Antietam.

This October 14, 1862 issue features Union major General George McClellan's official report congratulating Union troops for their victory at the Battle of Antietam, and expelling Confederate troops under General Robert E. Lee from Maryland and Union territory. On the same page is a notice from London calling the Confederate invasion of Maryland a "failure".

McClellan's report features his signature in block type at the end.

This historic piece, complete in four pages, is chock full of other Civil War news, such as the Battle of Corinth, and a long and detailed report on the Raid of Confederate cavalry officer Jeb Stuart thru southern Pennsylvania.

This newspaper in Good+ condition with general rubbing and edge wear, with a larger chip along the lower fore edge of the back page.
