Katahdin Section of the Guide to the Appalachian Trail in Maine - 1952, with Maps
Augusta, Maine: Maine Appalachian Trail Club, 1952. 3rd Edition. Duodecimo. Very Good. Item #18542
A very nice 1952 Guide to the AT in Maine, in remarkable condition, which covers the northern-most section of the Appalachian trail.
Two fold-out maps, each in outstanding condition.
Green laminated typographical card stock wraps.
This historic piece features key stats like distance, elevation gains, detailed breakdowns of the route, landmarks, trail junctions. The climb to the summit of Mount Katahdin involves an elevation gain of over 4,000 feet, which is the greatest sustained ascent on the trail.
It is also one of the most strenuous and challenging, involving substantial scrambling over boulders and ledges. But the reward is worth it, culminating in one of the most spectacular 360-degree views in the east.
In excellent, but obviously used condition with gentle wear. Square tight binding. Clean interior, save for previous owner name and 1952 date to front endpaper. :aminated wraps with mild edge wear and creasing
An outstanding centerpiece to any modern-day vintage trail-guide or Appalachian trail collection.
Price: $150.00
