Easton, Md: Easton Publishing Compnay, 1953. John Moll. Item #18633

A VERY COOL piece picked up in the wild yesterday - a framed unused end sheet from Gilbert Byron’s 1953 work of poetry, “Chesapeake Cove”, with his signature. The piece is illustrated by iconic Eastern Shore artist John Moll and depicts the area surrounding Byron’s cabin on the banks of Old House Cove and San Domingo Creek near St. Michaels. Byron’s cabin is depicted along with other nearby historic homes. At the top left is a printing of the Byron poem, “Return to Edgar”, a reference to Edgar Allan Poe. #gilbertbyron #poetry #chesapeakebay #poet #stmichaelsmd #stmichaels #edgarallanpoe #poe #map.
