White Collar and Chain
North Montpelier, VT: The Driftwood Press, 1945. 1st Edition. 8vo. Very Good. Item #18955
A very nice Signed, 1st Edition copy of Byron's third book, and third work of poetry, much more subdued and dark than his first two poetry volumes.
Signed by Byron TWICE! Once on a tipped in personal check of the poet's, and the other underneath his frontispiece portrait, and dated May 1, 1988.
Byron was known as 'The Chesapeake Thoreau' and the 'Voice of the Chesapeake'. His eloquent poetry and prose captured perfectly the romantic, often difficult and sometimes perilous existence of the nearly extinct Chesapeake Bay waterman of the early 20th century.
Black cloth with titling in silver foil. Square tight binding. Clean interior. 59pp. Endpapers with some age toning around edges. Lacking dust jacket, but presents handsomely in archival mylar.
Price: $115.00
