A stunning 19th-century Protestant bible in original custom leather binding with brass-lined edges and center fore edge clasp.
This beautiful Bible was bound for one Miss A,E, Cossins, with her initials embossed in gilt to the front board.
Dark brown pebbled morocco. Square tight binding. Clean interior, save for the save for front flyleaf 1872 gift inscription to Cossins from a male friend, Edward 'Hartland' (?), a possible paramour?
All edge gilt. Brass ands and clasp in beautiful, working condition. Raised bands to spine, with titling and decoration in gilt. This historic piece also features Wesleyan hymns at the rear of the bible.
