Theodore Roosevelt Jr. and Kermit Roosevelt led major scientific hunting expeditions to Asia in the 1920s for the Field Museum of Natural History. Their 1925–1926 expedition, funded by James Simpson, focused on the Pamirs and Tian Shan Mountains for Ovis Poli. The brothers, along with naturalist George K. Cherrie and photographer C. Suydam Cutting, explored Central Asia, collecting over 2,000 specimens. They traveled through the Himalayas into Chinese territory, focusing on rare large mammals.
