A handsome 1932 1st Edition Association copy, signed and inscribed by Beebe for Captain E. John Long of the U.S. Navy Reserve.
"Captain Long, a “bilger” from the Naval Academy Class of 1922, joined the Naval Reserve in 1937, and came on active duty in the Navy Department in December, 1940. He organized and directed the Pictorial and the Combat Art Sections of the Office of Public Relations of the Navy, acting as officer in charge for four years until ordered to duty at the Naval Academy, where he is assistant curator of the Museum." - U.S. Naval Institute.
Beebe has inscribed his work on the half-title page, dated 1974.
Navy blue cloth with titling stamped in gilt. Square tight binding. Clean interior save for a previous owner bookplate to the front pastedown. Spine with some spotting. Dust jacket age toned with moderate chipping along the edges. Verso of jacket sympathetically backed with light blue paper where there are imperfections. Presents handsomely in archival mylar.
