An exceptional collection of rare Clara Barton memorabilia, featuring a scarce 1912 1st Edition collection of Barton Funeral Tributes, and exceedingly rare 1910 ribbon for a reception for Barton at the Abraham Lincoln Center in Chicago, and a scarce 1915 unused postcard commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Civil War, with Barton's portrait on the front.
The 1910 ribbon features text in gold with a bold red cross in the center. It is quite rare, with no present or previous records in commerce that we could find and the only other known ribbon held at the Smithsonian Institution. This ribbon, white when issued has age toned to a light tan color.
The Barton "Memoriam" is bound in wraps, again with the large Red Cross to the center of the front wrap. Also quite scarce, we could find no other 1st Editions in commerce, nor past auction records. other than a 2015 record where another copy was included in an archive of Barton memorabilia. Square tight binding. Clean interior. Dampstain along outer spine but does not show up inside. Light soiling to wraps. Sporadic foxing inside. 87pp. A few black-and-white portrait plates. Presents handsomely in archival mylar.
The 1915 post card features Barton's portrait on the front along with a colored red cross and American flag. An anniversary poem entitled "Anniversary Ode" is on the front in three verses. On the verso is a note announcing that proceeds from the sale of the cards will benefit the "Clara Barton Memorial Mission. The card is in beautiful condition with little wear, and trimmed in gold.
Overall an exceptional, if small of essential Barton items, difficult to obtain in commerce.
