Archive of Three Battle Creek Sanitarium Items from 1897-1908, with Manuscript Notes

A small lot of three items from the heyday of the Battle Creek Sanitarium, the health institute famously directed by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg noted for the invention of the modern breakfast cereal industry.
The three items are a two-page letter from the sanitarium to a prospective client from 1908, with an accompanying promotional booklet; and hardback souvenir book from the hospital, owned by one of the nurses, with many manuscript letters from friends, and possibly patients at the sanitarium.
The letter is hand-typed and written to one J. E. Johnson of Sheyenne, North Dakota, extolling the virtues of the institution and encouraging further dialogue. It does mention the accompanying booklet, which was sent along with the letter.
The booklet, an oblong paperback with a staple and string binding featuring many historic black and white photographs from the sanitarium as well as writeups on services offered and the benefits received.
The hardback book also features photos and illustrations. It belonged to one Miss Hattie Chandler and features many handwritten letters to her, most originating from Battle Creek, on blank pages sprinkled thoughout the book.
The souvenir book binding is rubbed and worn but the gilt decoration and titling on the front board is still relatively intact.
Overall, this a very unique and interesting glimpse into everyday life at the sanitarium around the turn of the last century, when it was being run by Dr. Kellogg.
