A handsome Limited 1st Edition of this scarce history of this exclusive and private road coaching club, which has its 19th-century roots in New York's famed Knickerbocker Club.

The Coaching club was founded in 1875, "centered in the ardent sportsmen, gathered together in the Knickerbocker Club...who became enthused by the glowing accounts of William Jay's visits and experiences with His Grace, the Duke of Beaufort, at that time the prime mover in amateur coaching in Great Britain."

Historic black and white photographs and line drawings. Publishers cloth. 349pp. Square tight binding. Clean interior. This is edition #198 of just 300 copies printed. titling and medallion in gilt. Mild rubbing and edge wear to binding, with a touch of fraying at spine ends and corners. Minor bumps to corners.
