London: Diocesse of Lincoln, 1637. 1st Edition. Hardcover. 8vo - over 7. Very Good. Item #7487
RARE 17th-century work on what was an ongoing controversy at the Lincolnshire diocese on the use and placement of the communion table within a church sanctuary. The volume was written by the outspoken and controversial Williams in response to and to refute a work by Peter Heylin, Chaplain to King Charles I. Original vellum and cord binding. Square Tight Binding. Clean bright interior. Light narrow dampstain along outer page edge. Vellum rubbed with some soiling, as is normal with a vellum binding of this age. Front end paper with some edge wear. Overall, a handsome early 17th-century edition.
