Item #900002 U.S. Frigate Constitution. Nautical Prints.

U.S. Frigate Constitution

New York: Nathaniel Currier, 1838-1848. Very Good. Item #900002

Original c.1838-1848 Nathaniel Currier Lithograph of the USS ConstitutionThis very early and rare lithograph was likely produced between 1838-1848, when most of the prints in this series were completed. This time frame also corresponds with the address on the print and the fact that James Ives, whose name is absent, had not yet joined the firm. The USS Constitution is the most storied, and the 2nd oldest surviving (USS Constellation, Baltimore), ship in United States Navy history and has been involved in protecting America's waters since 1797.Rare. The last auction record dates to 1957. This historic piece measures 20" X 15" framed and would make a fine centerpiece to any fine U.S. Navy or Currier & Ives collection. Extra shipping required.
