Loterie Nationale Tourisme

Paris: Loterie Nationale of France, 1939. Edgar Derouet, Charles Lesacq. 1st Edition. Fine. Item #900102

This is one of a series of beautiful Art Deco posters created for the Loterie Nationale (National Lottery) in France by artists Edgar Derouet and Charles Lesacq.

This Art Deco style poster is for a lottery drawing to support the tourism industry during the waning days of the Great Depression and just a year before France would become Nazi-occupied territory. The man in the center of the image is holding up a French lottery ticket along with a map of the French countryside while a camera or binocular case swings by his side.

This poster is the result of a collaboration with Charles Lesacq, who worked with Derouet from 1938 to 1940.

Edgar Derouet (1910-2001), though primarily known for these French Lottery posters, as is Lesacq, also worked on artwork for the 1948
summer Olympics.

This poster is linen backed and in excellent condition.
